While doing the research for our project, we realized that organic waste is one of the most major forms of waste. That's when we remembered that we learned about anaerobic digestion in science class. Anaerobic digestion is decomposition of organic waste in the absence of air. In the process, the waste turns into a slurry which can be used as a fertilizer and it also produces biogas which can be used as fuel for cooking. We used this property and created a biogas plant using things we already had either in our school or homes. For a detailed explanation, please check out our video below:
